Covid-19
Health and Safety of our drivers and passengers are our first priority
Doctor Bird Transportation appreciate the trust of persons who are placed daily, in the hands of our driver network partners, for their NEMT needs. Their health and safety are our first priority.
We actively follow the precautionary safety measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), in response to COVID-19 (the coronavirus) pandemic.

Here are some recommendations:
To help reduce your risk of contracting COVID-19 and slow the spread of the illness, WHO recommends the following:
- Clean hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub
- Cover nose and mouth with flexed elbow or tissue when coughing and sneezing.
Dispose of tissue immediately - Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms
- Stay home when sick
- Frequently clean touched surfaces and objects
If you are experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath, please see your doctor.
All transportation providers should consistently practice basic infection control procedures, decontaminating vehicles and equipment and adhere to proper use of FDA- regulated medical personal protective equipment (PPE), regardless of the COVID-19 epidemic. Providers should adopt day-to-day infection control and decontamination procedures consistent with the most recent CDC and Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) guidance. Routine cleaning should be employed throughout the vehicle with special attention to certain areas as specified below:
- Clean and disinfect the interior compartment of the vehicle according to the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Wear non-sterile, disposable gloves that are recommended by the manufacturer of the detergent/disinfectant while cleaning the interior of the vehicle and when handling cleaning and disinfecting solutions. Dispose of gloves if they become damaged or soiled or when cleaning is completed, in a sturdy leak proof bag that is tied shut and not reopened. State and local governments should be consulted for appropriate disposal. Never wash or reuse disposable gloves.
- Avoid cleaning activities that may splashing. Eye protection, such as a face-shield or goggles, should be used if splashing is expected.
- Cleaning activities should be supervised and inspected periodically to ensure correct procedures are followed.
- Frequently touched surfaces in passenger compartments (including equipment control panels, adjacent flooring, walls and ceilings, door handles, and driver cell phones) should be cleaned first with detergent and water and then disinfected using an EPA-registered hospital disinfectant in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Ensure that the surface is kept wet with the disinfectant for the full contact time specified by the manufacturer. Adhere to any safety precautions or other recommendations as directed (e.g., allowing adequate ventilation in confined areas, and proper disposal of unused product or used containers).
- Non-porous surfaces in passenger compartments that are not frequently touched can be cleaned with detergent and water. Avoid cleaning methods that produce mists or splashing or disperse dust in passenger compartments.
- Clean any small spills of bodily fluids (e.g., vomit from an ill passenger) by cleaning first with detergent and water followed by disinfection using an EPA-registered hospital disinfectant in accordance with the manufacturer’s use instructions and safety precautions.
- Large spills of bodily fluids should first be managed by removing any solid matter with absorbent material (e.g., disposable paper towels discarded into a leak-proof properly labeled container). The spill should then be cleaned and disinfected as above.
- Remove and dispose of gloves as instructed in a leak proof bag or waste container. State and local governments should be consulted for appropriate disposal.
- Immediately clean hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand gel.
- Avoid touching your face with gloved or unwashed hands.
